The George Mason Memorial is a
memorial to George Mason, one of the founding fathers, commonly referred
to as the father of the Bill of Rights. It commemorates the
contributions of Mason who wrote Virginia declaration of rights
and services served as a delegate to the 1787 Constitutional convention
in Philadelphia. The Memorial features a statue of the city Mason
sitting with his legs crossed on a bench in front of a circular pool. It
was authorized in 1990, commence construction in 2000 and dedicated on
April 9, 2002.
